Phototherapy in scalp care can be used for preventive purposes, for general health improvement, improvement of hair condition, as well as in hair treatment and as a therapeutic procedure for various inflammatory diseases of the scalp, in particular:
- focal and other types of alopecia;
- seborrhea;
- dandruff, rash, itching of the skin;
- diffuse hair loss;
- psoriasis;
- folliculitis;
- dermatitis;
- soreness of the scalp (trichodynia);
- dry, brittle and split ends;
- skin regeneration after injuries, burns, and hair transplants.
In the presence of such diseases, it is recommended to consult a trichologist before using light therapy.
In the USA, a large-scale year-long
study was performed, involving more than 6,800 patients aged 18 to 60 years with baldness, dandruff, irritation and itching of the scalp. The final analysis included 1,383 of them, according to the results, 80% got rid of the existing cosmetic problems, about 50% stopped the process of hair loss, and 27% began regeneration and restoration of the hair cover. The effectiveness of light therapy in the treatment of hair loss has been confirmed.
Several colors are used in hardware phototherapy:
- red stimulates blood circulation, activates hair growth;
- blue has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory effects;
- green has a calming effect, relieves irritation, soreness;
- yellow stimulates microcirculation of blood and cellular fluids, promotes rejuvenation and regeneration of the dermis
